ESOL Café

Tuesday and/or Friday 9.30am-10.45am

Further information and new programme will be available here when we are able to recommence the courses.

​The class includes learners from all over the world. In the past we have welcomed learners from Spain, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Brazil, Argentina, Bangladesh, Portugal, Japan, Pakistan, Lithuania, South Korea and China.

There will be group work, listening, talking, some writing and communication tasks to help you develop more confidence in speaking.  

You will receive a certificate at the end of term.

We have British native speakers to help you.

£40 for 8 lessons (Tuesday or Friday)

£80 for 16 lessons (Tuesday and Friday)


If you would like a trial lesson, please book it at Chesterton Sports Centre Reception for £6.

It is open between 6am-9pm.
The location is Gilbert Road, Cambridge, CB4 3NY.

ESOL Café aims:
Short term:
Within 5 weeks, students should be able to:
  1. Introduce themselves to others
  2. Take part in a group activity
  3. Offer some homework


Longer term:
At the end of the 10 week term, students should be able to:
  1. Prove that they have learnt at least 25 new words
  2. Hold a 2 minute conversation without prompts
  3. Be able to correct their own grammar mistakes
Looking ahead:
After the course, students should be able to:
  1. Take part in volunteer work
  2. Talk confidently in social situations
  3. Be able to take a more active role in Cambridge life
