Visit of Joe Notarnicola from Living Sport to ESOL café, March 2017:
We were pleased that Joe came to our classes at the beginning of March and talked to us about healthy living, eating well and the importance of exercise. We all mentioned the sports we liked and played, and then talked about the benefits of exercise and having fun! Joe explained that we should try and do 30 minutes exercise per day and just fit it in with our normal lifestyle: walking to the shops, cycling into town or getting off the bus a stop earlier and walking the rest of the way. He showed us that we had to walk quite fast in order to increase our heartrate and improve our fitness level as much as possible. He said that we could eat snacks and drink alcohol in moderation in addition to keeping active.
We all then took part in some fun activities: playing table tennis, measuring our heart rate, boxing, playing ball and walking fast! We all enjoyed the workshops and will carry on playing table tennis in our break times from now on.
Thanks Joe!

Visit from Cambridgeshire Police and Fiona Onsanya MP
We were pleased to welcome visitors in June to our Just Talk class: Cambridgeshire Police came to help us think about how to keep safe and look after our bikes and households, and Fiona Onasanya came to talk about her experience as an MP for Cambridgeshire and her ideas to help improve our county. The Just Talk group had prepared some interesting questions for Fiona and talked about their own views and the political situation in their countries. The visits were part of our project about Active Citizens Together which promotes participation in local matters, volunteering and service within the community.
In our next session we will be welcoming: Cambridge Fire Service, Alex Mayer MEP from Ely and a representative from the Volunteer Agency.
